[BRITISH ANTARCTIC 'TERRA NOVA' EXPEDITION, 1910-13]. A cut section of paper bearing the signature of Francis Drake,

Measuring c. 75 x 160 mm, with a one penny Victoria Land stamp to the left of the paper (damaged), stain to the central section which partially affects the signature and other text, two vertical folds.
Francis Drake was the deputy postmaster on Scott's Terra Nova expedition, and responsible for postal matters when Scott was not on board. The present item is something of a curiosity, probably a cutting from a large envelope. Drake's signature lies to the right of the stamp, beneath which he has written: 'S.Y. "Terra Nova" R.Y.S. 1910-13. Asst. Postmaster Victoria Land Antarctic'. A second hand, probably of a collector has written at the foot of the cutting 'Capt. Drake was with Capt. Scotts Antarctic Expedition in 1910-13. The S.Y Terra Nova was the ship in which they sailed.'
