BURTON, Richard F. Camoens: His Life and his Lusiads. London, Bernard Quaritch, 1881.

Small 8vo, two volumes. Original publisher's green cloth, decorated and lettered in gilt; pp. vii, 366; [367]-738, 6; minimally worn, inner hinges a little weakened; internally fine and uncut; gift inscription to front fly-leaves.
First edition, first issue of Burton's magisterial commentary of the life and work of Camões, the creator of the Portuguese national epos.
